HONKERS
It’s been a long time since those early season flocks loafed lazily into the spread, and they’ve seen a thing or two since then! Step your game up with the most lifelike silhouette decoy on the market, the V2FF fully flocked Canada silos. With absolutely zero reflectivity, these decoys have a demanding presence in the field and create enough “pop” to stand alone in smaller spreads or be used in larger mixed spreads. If you want to take home more geese plain and simple, the V2FF is what you need. Be mindful of not overcalling so as to not alarm these wary late-season birds.
LATE DUCKS
With ducks growing wary of large mallard-only spreads, it’s time to add contrast and realism to make a spread more effective. Pintails are known as extremely wary birds, not only among hunters but waterfowl as well. Where large groups of pintails are found, the danger is likely not. This is also a great time to mix in some wigeon to double down on contrast and realism. While ducks still congregate in the cold snaps and storms, breeding is becoming the main focus, and it’s now or never if birds are looking to find a mate. Use this to your advantage, along with small pairs and courting-sized groups of decoys scattered about your body of water.
